Dandelion Honey, All You Need To Know!

Dandelion honey is a single-flower variation of honey made from the pollen and nectar of dandelion flowers. It has a strong flavour along with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, mildly prebiotic and diuretic properties. This kind of honey is normally consumed for its beneficial effects on the liver and the digestive system. However, it is also widely utilized for various skin problems. Dandelion honey is  a good source of pollen, naturally occurring sugars, antioxidants, amino acids, enzymes, minerals, vitamins and other elements along with its rich nutritional value.  The most common species of the dandelion flower are Taraxacum laevigatum and Taraxacum officinale. These are only two of a dozen of species native to North America, Asia and Europe. Bees could produce honey from each of the variations. Dandelion honey is clear in vibrant golden-yellow colour. You could also come across the brownish-yellow variations, too but the lighter coloured ones are more sought for. This honey has a rapid crystallization period, just like the clover and acacia honey. Little crystals start forming in honey just in a matter of months from the harvest. The denser the honey gets, the more opaque its colour. This Honey is famous for its powerful taste profile with a delicate sweetness. It has a distinct smell with strong dandelion, chamomile, herbal, woody, and vinegary notes. Some may say there’s a certain sharpness or pungency to it, others may compare it to herbal medication. The honey isn’t bitter or unpleasant-tasting, however, it lacks the strong floral sweetness of other types of honey.
